This Riley 9 HP ‘Brooklands Special’ from 1937 is an incredible piece of automotive craftsmanship, born as a Riley 9HP Saloon and professionally converted in 2016 based on drawings to create a faithful reproduction of the original. The work has been carried out to a very high standard, guaranteeing an impeccable appearance.

The bodywork is beautiful and has been built with authentic period details such as round-headed rivets and a magnificent finish. The sheet metal work is fine and precise, giving the impression that the car was built recently. The car is painted in a shade of green that perfectly matches the model and overall style. The side exhaust, which runs along the cabin, completes the look. The 19-inch spoked wheels, 2.5 inches wide and with tyres of the correct size, are equally impressive.

The interior is another highlight, with clear Jaeger instruments in excellent condition. The seats and sides are covered in beige leather, also in excellent condition. The rest of the interior follows a spartan style, as you would expect from a genuine racing car, with white aluminium trim. The pedals, very close together, allow precise control of the car.

The mechanical part has a four-cylinder engine, 1,082cc, which generates 82 cv and is coupled to a four-speed manual transmission. The engine, equipped with two SU carburettors, produces a wonderful sound and has an agile performance, especially considering the car's low weight of just 1,100 kilos. Both the engine and transmission were completely overhauled during the conversion. In addition, the car has drum brakes on all wheels, and the suspension was adjusted for the reduced weight after the conversion.

The entire conversion was documented in detail, with a folder full of invoices and construction drawings. This makes maintenance easier, as all the details of the build are available, from the drawings to the electrical diagrams.
