About the car
Jaguar XK120 Roadster 1952
The '120' referred to the car's top speed, which was confirmed when a carefully prepared example achieved 126.4 mph with the hood and side screens erected and 132.6 mph without weather protection and fitted with an under-tray. The XK120 set new benchmarks for comfort, roadholding, and performance among British sports cars and, in keeping with Jaguar tradition, there was nothing to match it at the price. From its launch until the end of production in 1954, its popularity never waned, especially in overseas markets, which accounted for over 85% of total output.
Chassis number '672276' was built in left-hand drive configuration and delivered new to the USA.
Subsequently, the car was imported to the Netherlands and underwent a full restoration to 'Le Mans' specification around 2016/2017. The improvements made include a Getrag five-speed gearbox, four-wheel disc brakes, aero screens, Guy Broad extended pedal box conversion, dual exhaust system, steering column moved forward, period-style bucket seats, and retractable harness-type seat belts. In short, the car was carefully modified for fast road use and now comfortably accommodates a driver up to 6'4" in height. A full photographic record of the restoration is on file. The XK is finished in Le Mans Green with a tan leather interior and currently displays a total of 1,038 miles on the odometer, presumably the distance traveled since the restoration.
From its launch until the end of production in 1954, its popularity never waned, especially in overseas markets, which accounted for over 85% of total production.

"We claimed 120 mph (for the XK120), a speed unheard of for a production car in those days." – William Heynes, Chief Engineer, Jaguar Cars.
Designed and built in just a few months, the XK120 debuted at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show, where its stunning design caused a sensation. Initially planned as a low-production model, the XK120 became far more popular than expected, and the demand for what was then the world’s fastest production car took Jaguar by surprise. It quickly became clear that the aluminum body with a wooden frame had to be replaced, and the model was swiftly re-engineered with a steel body.
